Membership Requirements:

  • Attendance at our general meetings, held every other Wednesday (8- 9 PM).
  • Attendance at New Member Training, since members must be HIPAA certified to conduct blood pressure screenings

 

New Member Training:

(Hosted by the Continuing Development Committee)

New Member Training, which will take place on TBA, is when new members will become acquainted with the ways in which BPP operates during Mobile Health Vans and other volunteer events. This is also the time where new members will become HIPAA Certified through the City of Berkeley’s Heart 2 Heart program. 

 

Membership in BPP entails:

  • Attendance at our Meetings, every other Wednesdays from 8-9 PM (see our calendar on the home page!).
  • Participation in Volunteer Events (minimum of 5 hours per semester).  
  • The opportunity to join one of our wonderful Committees
  • Promoting BPP through Publicity & Recruitment activities.
  • Expanding the potential of BPP through active participation in and promotion of  Fundraisers.
  • Bonding with other members by joining us for Socials.

 

Meetings:

Spring 2023 meetings will be held every other Wednesday from 8-9 PM in-person (see home page calendar for most up-to-date information). During meetings, members can expect:

  • Icebreakers and the chance to meet and socialize with other members,
  • Presentations and discussions concerning topics related to blood pressure or other health issues,
  • Guest speakers
  • Preparation and planning for future events, such as BPP’s “Special Project”/workshops
  • Discussion of volunteer experiences and experiences engaging the community.

 

Volunteer Events:

At volunteer events hosted by Heart 2 Heart and various other organizations, BPP hosts informational tables with resources related to blood pressure and offers free blood pressure screenings. Sign up forms for events are typically released 1-2 weeks prior to each event. All members are required to complete a minimum of 5 hours of volunteer events per semester.
